Ready to crush some tiles…

Karate Sweater from Twinkle’s Big City Knits is ready! Love to wear it slouchy and open with my regular tops and jeans. Goes well with dresses, too.

Yarn is Rowan Big Wool, shade Smudge, used just over 5 skeins (> 500 g).

From this closeup you can see the nice structure of this knit. I apologise about the poor quality of these images. Automatic exposure, self timer and white background is bad combination - leads automatically to underexposed images. Thought that I will save some time by not expose manually, but I ended up process the images, heavily… …wait, where’s the saved time? Sorry about those fingerprints on wardrobe door, too - my assistant has been sloppy lately…

One more, from the backside. Hmm… …I don’t think far east and manual arts when I see this jacket. Actually it brings my mind pictures of middle age, peasant clothing and perhaps chainmail shirts, things like that. Bring me my horse, me and my jacket are leaving to crusade!

Adjustments:

  • M-sized body but smallest sleeves. Larger ones stretched like hell.
  • Guess that I made this about 12 rounds longer than pattern told.
  • Left away the button. Although I’m great fan of huge buttons, that lonely, asymmetrically placed plastic one seemed to my eye a bit lost in this jacket.

Your jacket is great! It look very comfortable beautifully made. How was working with Big Wool? I have a bunch for several jackets but haven’t made any yet. Great work!

Hi, Grace, and thanks! Actually I liked a lot to work with this yarn. It’s very soft in hand, but does not tear and wear easily when knitting (unlike some other loosely spun yarns). Large needles were bit awkward at first, though.

[…] Big Wool is mentioned as substitute and I made Karate Sweater from it. Big Wool is very soft, but has two plies and it is considerably lighter than Soft Chunky. […]
